Fleas, small parasites often associated with the presence of infested animals, can also bite humans when they are no longer in contact with their hosts or when the hosts are treated against fleas. In the absence of animals, fleas then turn to humans as an alternative.
These insects measure between 1 and 5 mm and have a lifespan ranging from 6 to 12 months.
Under ideal conditions, particularly at a temperature of 27°C, a female flea can lay up to 40 eggs per day.
